The FIRST Album

Zombie World

The soundtrack titled “Zombie World” portrays a thrilling scenario where I find myself fleeing from my home and navigating the deserted streets. The piercing sound of a car horn echoes through the air, gradually intensifying and drawing a horde of zombies towards me. Frantically, I run without respite, driven by the instinct to survive, until the cacophony of zombie groans subsides. In the midst of this harrowing experience, a radio broadcast delivers a chilling warning, urging people to stay indoors to avoid becoming victims of the zombie apocalypse. Welcome to the grim reality of a world overrun by the undead.

This is my first venture into experimental music, and it has greatly influenced me. I learned how to arrange sounds and create the specific sonic atmosphere I desired. It all began with a school assignment where I was introduced to the unconventional genre known as “music concrete.”

This music concrete song by 100 gecs showcases their unique approach of combining and manipulating various audio tracks with experimental effects and mixing techniques.

It was an enjoyable experience to experiment with different sounds and be surprised by the outcome when blending them together. For this particular track, I incorporated the sounds of rain, thunder, and footsteps. I have always found the sound of rain to be comforting and relaxing, and I wanted to use this as a reference to make something different.

The inspiration of the sound object

While experimenting with these sound tracks, I had fun exploring modulation and panning techniques. When listening to the song with headphones, you’ll notice the rain and thunder sounds moving around you, creating an immersive experience reminiscent of a zombie encounter.

I also incorporated car horn and radio sounds, which add intensity and provide a sense of the unfolding events within the track. I particularly enjoy how the car horn grabs the audience’s attention, while the radio sound offers glimpses into the narrative of the composition.
