Raise and Mend – A healing song

Benson Cheung is a screen composer creating hybrid cinematic orchestration and ambient music for visual media. This single is part of a collaborative project in which four composers each reinterpret a line from the nursery rhyme “Itsy Bitsy Spider.” Benson composed the final section, inspired by the line: “And the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again.”

The piece uses a full orchestral approach to express healing and renewal after failure. Soft string harmonies form the foundation, gradually expanding in register and density to suggest recovery and forward movement. Woodwinds introduce gentle melodic lines, adding a sense of curiosity and natural warmth, while harp and subtle percussion provide light motion and texture.
