A re-composition piece for an animation film “Spring”

Benson Cheung is a screen composer creating hybrid cinematic orchestration and ambient music for visual media. This single EP is a re-composition for the short film Spring, created using selected two-minute segments from the original film and reimagined through a new musical narrative.

The track explores the theme of spring infused with magical elements. In the story, a character uses a magic stone to control forest beasts and restore the spring season to the forest.

Musically, the piece is driven primarily by orchestral instrumentation, with recurring ostinato patterns and thematic motifs used to shape emotional progression. A sense of wonder emerges as the protagonist discovers the magic stone, followed by rising tension when the stone is dropped and the forest beasts begin to chase it. The music then resolves into relief as the stone is recovered and balance returns to the forest.
